So we have noticed a great number of the sites in the fediverse have fallen. While the idea of the system is noble not allowing anyone to host any adverts has made the logistics of running a server untannable for most. We subsize this extensively with snipesocial.co.uk budget, over the next year we will look at a way for users to monetize their instances. The fediverse will never be at the whim of an advertiser while it is a community
3/ then we intend to attempt work on resolving the overheads issue for everyone, running an instance.
/2 but the community will shrink if individuals cannot earn their own running costs. If 10,000 servers have 10,000 different ad networks users can still chose which server they wish to support,. the advertisers will never be able to control it as long as we are many. But we are becoming few, we have seen so many dead links. We will be moving our instance to a more powerful and cost effective server in the new year. For those who still want to be on mastodon who's servers are gone.
